Movie Review: Violator

Manila is besieged by the worst typhoon to hit the country. Talk of the world coming to an end hangs in the air. And five men find themselves stranded inside a police station with a prisoner who may or may not be the devil.  It’s going to be a long night.

The film’s sampler of bizarre story ideas and visual gimmicks, congealing around a premise that is so straightforward that it affords them no groundwork for stability or realization, an apocalyptic thrill ride that is as gritty as it is gripping, with a dark terror outgunned only by its daring humanity. The film’s subtle and unspoken statements register with the greatest force. The film is admirable for its inventive premise. Dark, eccentric, silly. Topnotched with the acting performance of Joel Lamangan, Anthony Falcon, RK Bagatsing, Timothy Mabalot Andy Bais and Victor Neri. It got a solid screenplay that we don’t usually see on a mainstream flick. One of the entries in this festival that I am recommending to watch it you like your brain to be eaten out.

My Verdict: 4.5/5
