MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino wants to have a Cinema Fare

Sa ginanap na press launch ng Metro Manila Film Festival New Wave 2014 noong November 25 2014 nabanggit ni MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino ang pagnanais na magkaroon ng Cinema Fare para sa pelikukulang Pilipino:

“Siguro looking forward ang nakikita ko ay dapat magkaroon tayo ng job fare na kung saan andun ang mga talents, writers, directors, producers kung saan pede sila magtipon-tipon umupo sa harap sa isang hapag kainan, pedeng magmeet, mag human resources, gumawa ng isang direksyon, mag craft ng istorya parang isang cinema fare, wala pa tayong ganun di ba. So sa isang cinema fare pagtitipunin natin ang lahat ng aspiring and veteran director.”

On sustaining MMFF New Wave

“Ang na miss ko lang ngayun ang pangako ko last year ay iyong open archive na mukhang latter part ng January matatapos eh. Ito na iyong maglalaman ng archives ng 40 years natin. Ito iyong maglalaman ng library ng New Wave ng Cinephone so lahat yan magiging sustainable dahil nakatuon tayo hindi lang sa pagiimbak nito pati sa patutunguhan ng industriya.”

On the Upcoming 40^th MMFF

Ang huling report sa akin ay kaya at matatapos ang lahat ng entry. Ang huling report din sa akin ay baka mabreach iyong 1.2 Billion for this year. Meron lang concerns sa Christmas Day, Dec 31, Jan 1 iyong opening ng cinemas but I think they will be able to breach more than 600 theaters nationwide. Kaoopen lang ng sinehan sa Tacloban so palagay ko mabebreak iyong records ngayun.”

On his last year as MMDA Chairman

“Ang natutuwa ako nito ay nasimulan natin ang Animation, nasimulan natin ang New Wave, nasimulan nating ang Cellphone Film Festival palagay ko tama na iyon. Iyong Cinema Fare ay malaking pangarap na iyon.Sana itong Cellphone Filmfest ay magtuloy tuloy dahil ito iyong susi sa industriya natin dahil andito ang mga bagong director, artist and producer. I will support and lend more than a helping hand  and k ung kailangan gawin niyo ko consultant ay papayag ako sa pagpapatuloy nitong New Wave. Mamimiss ko kayo, kaya nga ngayun linggo-linggo ay nanonood ako ng sine”

Loren Burgos a new indie actress to watch to

Loren Burgos is a new artist and given a chance to be the lead actress on her first film Mulat (Awaken) one of the entries of MMFF New Wave 2014.

How do you feel to become lead actress in you first film?

 “I feel blessed and ang bait talaga sa akin ni God kasi di ko talaga iniexpect lahat na mangyayari sa akin ito as in nag audtion lang ako tapos ang bibilis ng mga pangyayari tapos ngayun andito na ako sa MMFF New Wave at naging entry ang movie namin. So unexpected talaga kasi baguhan lang ako tapos iyong mga nakasama ko sa film veteran actor na.”

Tell something about your role in the film Mulat

“My role was very challenging for me. It’s about first love and true love so kayo na lang ang magdecide kung sino sa aking mga leading men ang nakapagbigay ng first and true love. Madami din required na intense emotion for the scenes so nachallenged talaga ako”

How do you prepare for your role?

“Nag usap kami ng director kung ano iyong gusto niyang makita then I memorized my lines pero wala masyado preparations eh kaya sana ok naman iyong maging outcome ng pelikula.”

How did you get your role in Mulat?

“Nakuwa ko kasi nasa Starmagic ako and baguhan pa lang ako sa kanila so hindi ako nakakuwa ng audtions with them pero sobrang bait nila as in wala talaga ako masabi sa ABS, maalaga sila. Nakuwa ko tong audition for the role through my commercial agent sa Monaco then di pa ko prepared, siguro 10 mins lang iyong preparation ko sa audition, binigay lang sa akin iyong babasahin ko, binasa ko lang tapos hindi ko rin alam kung makukuwa ko o hinde pero nakuwa ko so grabe di mo maeexpect na sa commercial agent mo makukuwa iyong project/

How was it working with Jake Cuenca and Ryan Eigenman?

“Professional talaga si Jake as in he takes his acting seriously. Kasi ako medyo maloko kasi ako eh, minsan nag jojoke ako kunwari nag cut na iyong director lagi pa rin akong nakikipaglokohan ganun makulit pero si Jake talagang kung nandun siya sa scene focus talaga siya at hindi siya nakikipaglokohan after that. Natutunan ko sa kanya na kapag andun ka sa scene kailangan seryoso at ibibigay mo talaga lahat then pag tapos na iyong scene ok go maglokoloko ka na.”

“Si Ryan napakabait as in nag click na kami sa beginning tapos nakakatawa nga kasi iyong role na pinoportray niya rito is parang asshole siyam pero in real life napakabait niya. He’s a sweet guy and madaling pakisamahan si Ryan.

How was it shooting your love scenes in the film?

“May mga kissing scenes kami, wala namang love scene. Sa una syempre medyo parang awkward, so para ma overcome, ano ayun tagu taguan lang, ganun naman di ba as an actress i ki keep mo na lang, kahit ni nerbyos or awkward sa beginning kailangan umakting ka na parang ang tagal niyo ng magboyfriend, ilang beses na kayo nag kiss kahit first time pa lang iyon, so sana ok naman.”

Why should people watch your film?

“Kung gusto niyong matouch, matakot or kiligin, panoorin niyo iyong film namin. Syempre nandiyan na iyong magagaling na aktor, madami na silang napagdaanan at experience so kung hindi niyo papanoorin para sa akin panoorin niyo kasi andun si Jake Cuenca at Ryan Eigenmann.”

Filmmaker Diane Ventura a promising director for the film industry

won at International Film Festival Manhattan as Best Director as well as Jake Cuenca won as Best Actor for the same film.

 Direk Diane on inspiration of doing the film.

“I don’t want to reveal too much so I am going to try to be economical with my synopsis. I was inspired from the random conversation and also stories from relationship because the movie is about the evolution of love, how a person is different from one relationship to the other and baggages from the past affecting the present. It’s a love story based in it but its set in a sort of psychological thriller genre.”

“I have conversation with a friend then sabi ko parang uy ok na idea iyon diba tapos I just started writing then it was originally intended to be a short film but it became full length upon suggestion of my producer.

Matagal kasi ako tumira sa ibang lugar so hindi ko alam kung sino iyong magagaling ngayun so pag uwi ko tinanong ko sa producer ko kung sino iyong marerecommend niya na mga actor. She recommended Jake Cuenca and Ryan Eigenmann after reading the script. She said that these people would fit the role so I research on them and watch their reels, the most recent one and I like it.

Direk Diane on why should people watch her film.

I don’t want to force anyone to watch the film but if they want to see something different from what they used to, something to past the time while being entertained. I had fun doing the film and I don’t know how the audience would feel when they watch it themselves but just watch it, I mean if I could invite everyone to just watch it with me.
