Movie Review: When The Love is Gone

The film revolves around a woman (Cristine Reyes) and an older man (Gabby Concepcion) who meet serendipitously during a stormy time in their individual lives – she after discovering that her husband (Jake Cuenca) is gay, and he, after realizing how far apart he and his wife (Alice Dixson) have drifted from each other. They instantly fall in love with each other and not long after, decide to leave their spouses to live together.

Another affair movie before the end of the year brought to you by the Viva Films that gave you No Other Woman and A Secret Affair. A remake of the 80’s films Nang Magalit ang Buwan sa Haba ng Gabi. Well I can say the treatment of the film is much more subtle than No Other Woman and Secret Affair medyo hindi ganun katatalas yung mga dialogue sa eksena. Pero kung mga sexy scenes ang pag uusapan ay mapangahas ang pelikulang ito especially the scenes of  Christine and Gabby.

I am happy sa tinakbo ng story kasi at least nag suffer yung kabit towards the end of the film at di naman na promote dito ang mga mistress at nagwagi pa rin ang original wife. Expectation on the film, did not meet my expectation because I have high expectation for this film but I am bit disappointed. Para kasi akong nanood ng teleserye sa twist na pinakita sa pelikula and in some of the scenes parang teleserye lang ang treatment. If there is something that I can commend on the film, it  is the Cinematography, infairness na appreciate ko yung mga kakaibang shot sa pelikula na gumamit din ng makabagong style and technique.

For the acting performance lahat naman ay mahuhusay at najustify ang role except for Jake Cuenca. Alice Dixon and Gabby Concepcion walang kupas parang di tumatanda, Christine Reyes nakapagbigay ng natural at makatotohanang pagganap sa pelikula. Andi Eigenman is good as well. Jake Cuenca got an awkward acting trying hard for his role as discreet gay man na parang laging lasing sa lahat ng mga eksena. Viva got the good choice of selecting the title and theme song of the film When The Love is Gone rendered by Nina na nakapagbigay ng mapusong rendition of the song. I personally like the theme song at may recall siya. And I think we can now say that Viva Films is finally back as they been able to produce a potential box office hit mainstream film. I think the film will do positive result on box-office. So overall the film is a fair film about mistress that we can watch and reflect to before the end of the year.

My Verdict: 3/5

The story of WHEN THE LOVE IS GONE revolves around a woman (Cristine Reyes) and an older man (Gabby Concepcion) who meet serendipitously during a stormy time in their individual lives – she after discovering that her husband (Jake Cuenca) is gay, and he, after realizing how far apart he and his wife (Alice Dixson) have drifted from each other. They instantly fall in love with each other and not long after, decide to leave their spouses to live together.

Things are not as easy for the man because he has a teen-aged daughter (Andi Eigenmann). Because he loves his daughter so much, he agrees to his wife’s proposal to keep their separation a secret. And so he divides his time between his family and his mistress. But what the couple doesn’t know is that their smart and feisty daughter has gotten wind of the deceit very early on. And she revels against it by getting a boyfriend.

Eventually, the sticky situation catches up with the man and it leads him to a new realization. But just when he is ready to go back to his family, with his mistress’s acceptance and consent, the mistress’s bitter and vengeful husband unleashes his explosive anger on them. - See more at: http://www.tsapsuy.com/2013/11/movie-info-when-love-is-gone-starring.html#sthash.j3v1SJYI.dpuf
