Movie Review: Shift

Estela, an idealistic, call center slacker is mentored by Trevor, a pragmatic, senior agent. Their interaction develops into an unconventional relationship that would challenge their most personal convictions.

For all working in call center this movie is for you. Pinakita ng pelikula ang tunay na pagyayari sa mga taong nagtatarabaho sa call center. Starting from the team competition, targeted metrics, queuing, logged in, common reason for sick leave, buhay pag-ibig, team building, nag aapply sa ibang call center while still hired, iba ang gustong trabaho, may sideline doing for the passion, just working here for the sake of money, mga paminta, tranny, lahat na nangyayari sa call center ay nacapture nila. Personally I know that I’m hit by the film because I’m working as well in a BPO industry so I know it’s true.

Good thing that Yeng accept this film dahil bagay sa kanya yung character at very natural lang ang acting niya. Same with Felix Roco na mas challenging yung role as discreet gay and he is effective to a point na di niya binakla yung character niya and that’s good point na subtle lang. Ayos din ang cameo ni Alex Medina chillax lang yung character  as cool friend of Yeng, parang siya lang sa totoong buhay very natural.

I appreciate the style na ginamit na nakadisplay yung chat box tapos makikita mo yung reaksyon ng nagtatype at the same time. Especially for Yeng’s character na means of communication ang social network na naintegrate na maayos sa film. I also appreciate the musicality of the film, the choices of the songs and ofcourse nailabas ni Yeng ang kanyang gifted talent to compose a song.

My Verdict:  3.5/5
