Movie Review: Bukas Na Lang Sapagkat Gabi Na

Four interconnected stories during the height of the Martial Law crackdown against rebels. The palpable aura of fear leaves Filipinos in a state of paralysis, unable or unwilling to move until the dark cloud of history passes over.

A non-linear story telling about the interconnected lives of communist, pervert priest, military and civilian living in a remote province. I like the film and I appreciate the unconventional treatment of telling a story. I also like the style, effects, and camera angle that they apply in the film.

I’ve seen local film tackles the about communism this year at ito yung pinakanaramdaman ko na totoo at realistic from the environment up to the style that they did in the film. Nagustuhan ko yung story at screenplay ng pelikula.

Ang dami ring mga shocking scene at unexpected na pangyayari sa pelikula that you will think not happen. Like yung 2 NPA na secret lovers pala at yung mga eksena ng pari. Kahit medyo controversial yung sa priest at nakakagulat. I know its really happening sa totoong buhay. Artistic din yung pagkakagawa ng segment na Amang ( Father) na pinakanagustuhan ko sa apat na segment, hindi siya nagmukhang bastos. DOP and editing is also commendable for the film.

So this film surprises me and I did not expect na magugustuhan ko siya kahit na I know na kakaibang style ng paggawa ng pelikula ang ginamit dito. Kudos to the team behind this film.

My Verdict:  3.5/5
