Movie Review: Blade Runner 2049

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. K's discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Blade Runner 2049 is visually impressive giving us a staggering new visions of the future and a rewarding cinematic experience. The film enjoys its own slowness a little too much, but the story develops in the second half that keeps you interested until the end, especially the final act that is really rewarding and worthy of the big shoes it has to fill. Gosling and Ford are solid performers, Ana de Armas is stunning and I love Carla Juri here. Blade Runner 2049 is smart and expands the theme of what it means to be human. One of the good sci-fi film to catch this season.

My Verdict: 4.5/5
