A
documentarist’s son goes missing when she films a story on the
disappearances of the firstborns in a remote island. Her search reveals
the presence of a cult and an abductor who looks like her, whom her son
claims to be his real mother.
Medusae
totally nails a well made mystery film that flawlessly woven its
original concept to its story. Pam Miras knows exactly what she’s trying
to achieve in this film and she delivers. I like how the mother son
story interweave to a mythological and folklore story. The film will not
only linger its visual treat and originality but also its statement of
being a parent. Dense with layers of story that are properly woven,
Medusae is one of the interesting local films that I’ve seen 2017.
My Verdict: 4.5/5
