Movie Review: Poltergeist

A young family is visited by ghosts in their home. At first the ghosts appear friendly, moving objects around the house to the amusement of everyone, then they turn nasty and start to terrorize the family before they "kidnap" the youngest daughter.

Poltergeist feels like a horror film for children. I went into the film with exceedingly low expectations and was insanely surprised by how fantastic it was. I had a total blast watching it from beginning to end. There was never a dull moment that you will watch it from start until the end. It may not have been particularly terrifying but it was highly entertaining. It has all the elements of a typical Hollywood horror film but will surely give you a goosebumps and let you freak out inside the cinema if you're a fan of this kind of genre.

The reboot of Poltergeist is an effective and decent remake of the 80's version with the advancements in effects and sounds that worked their scary magic on me. It stayed true to the original with the creepy tree, clown dolls, and scary television that still in this film. Better than I expected it is creepy, atmospheric and certainly frightening. Overall, Poltergeist (2015) is an updated reboot of the original 1982 horror classic that has an interesting premise that brings something new to the table. I would recommend this film to fans of the original who wants to see the version 2.0, or to those who have no idea what this film is about. The best Hollywood movie to watch this season and one of my favorite horror film this year!

My Verdict: 4/5
