Movie Review: Ang Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita

The film tells the story of a 12-year-old Anita who falls in love with the new woman in town; years later, a girlhood crush blossoms during the Fiesta of Santa Clara in Obando, Bulacan.

A coming of an age story about young girl revealing her true identity and gender preference. I like how the film was made, the treatment that was done in the film on how they presented young girl's infatuation over a woman. I also like the segment of point of view of kids here towards early love perhaps that its so cute and adorable and provide a laughing stock for the audience.

More of woman empowerment and knowing their self at an early age at ang maganda sa pelikulang ito tanggap ng ina yung anak niya kahit ano pa man ito. Screenplay is good in the film lalo na sa segment nung 3 magbabarkada na bata. All of the artists act well from Lui Manansala, Angel Aquino which is very effective on her role as adorable woman, Marcus Madrigal especially the kids, Lenlen Frial, Solomon Mark De Guzman and Teri Malvar, all these 3 kids ay nagbigay buhay sa pelikula, up to the supporting casts as part of the community. Angel Aquino portrayal here was different as well, from the character pa lang up to the emotion that she needs to deliver, nuances and movement, she justified it. For the lead star Teri Malvar, mahusay din sa paghugot ng emosyon sa murang edad at makuwa ang tindig at kilos ng isang  young lesbian na madalang dito sa Pilipinas.

It's very refreshing for us to see this kind of film about coming of age of young girl becoming a lesbian falling in love with a woman. The theme of the film that we don't usually see on our local films. This is a must watch gender sensitive coming of an age quality film.

My Verdict:  4/5
