Review: MMFF New Wave 2014 Short Films and Animation Section

I was invited to the premiere screening of MMFF New Wave Student Shorts and Animation Section last December 13 2014 at U-view Fully Booked sponsored by Juan.com.ph. Here are my ratings and capsule review of the short films and animation films shown:

My Verdict: 3.5/5

My Verdict: 2.5/5

My Verdict: 3.5/5

A nice short film about sexual awakening. It is a nuanced look at a young woman's exploration, candid but insightful character study about adolescent impulses that feels more insightful than exploitative.

My Verdict: 4/5

Jerico Fuentes for Shifter, Michelle Soriano for Ang Soltera, Eric Dequitos for Gymsnatch and Immy Rempis for Kalaw during Opening Remarks for their short film.

I hope this short film should watched by the children today.

My Verdict: 3.5/5

My Verdict: 3/5

Pinakaamalinis sa lahat ng animation entry at natouch ako sa story

My Verdict: 4/5

The most child friendly entry in shorts visually, technically and in terms of story and screenplay. I appreciate the glossiness of the film.

My Verdict: 3.5/5

Eugene Ceriola and Keith Bercero for Isip-Bata, Gio Alpuente for Siyanawa and Kim Zuniga for Bimyana during Opening Remarks for their short film.

My Verdict: 3/5

A good advocacy short film for young women.

My Verdict: 3/5

I love the methapor. I love the journey. The most "hugot" short film in all of the entries

My Verdict: 4/5

Dustin Uy for Cherry, Regine Ynieto for Kubli and Karl Glenn for Bundok Chubibo during Opening Remarks for their short film.
