Movie Review: #pinQCity

Interweaving lives of LGBT personalities compose this documentary about the struggles and hopes of a queer community living in the country’s premiere city. It consists of an angel that comes back to real-life to redeem himself from his past mistake that cost him his life, a gay filmmaker, a lesbian gender rights advocate, a transman, a bisexual-female anti-human trafficking activist, a transgender showgirl, another transgender activist fighting against the killing of fellow transgender Jennifer Laude, and a whole community of LGBT members form a narrative of lives that give voice to present-day concerns which the community faces in health, human rights and education. - See more at: http://www.qcpinkfestival.com/2014/11/pinqcity.html#sthash.yGJqSIKv.dpuf

I've been able to catch the opening film of the QC Internatioanal Pink Film Festival at Trinoma last night. A documentary film from the award winning
documentarist Nick De Ocampo, #pinQCity. I like the message of the film aboout equality and finding your worth in life. Pinasilip din ng pelikulang ito
ang mundo ng mga transgender, transman at ang latest issue sa LGBT community, ang pagpaslang kay Jennifer Laude. The documentary shows that LGBT can live a normal life and can be a productive citizen. Nagustuhan ko din ang mala poetic narrative style ni Direk Nick na inapply sa film. The documentary also integrates the life of LGBT to the progressive changes in a rural place like Quezon City. This documentary #pinQCity has a clear statement making the point that equality is a matter of human rights, not sexuality.

My Verdict:  3/5
