The Panti Sisters - A Family Comedy Film That Empowers LGBT

Award-winning actors Paolo Ballesteros, Christian Bables, and Martin del Rosario  come together to give life to the family comedy film The Panti Sisters. Directed by Jun Robles Lana, The Panti Sisters is an official entry to this year’s Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2019. The Panti Sisters is the latest film in the The Idea First Company's "Beautiful Universe" as this followed Jun Lana's  two previous LGBTQ-themed films, Die Beautiful and Born Beautiful. Director Jun Lana brings three of the most beautiful faces to the big screen together in one incredible story.

When the three leads asked about the relevance of the film in our society, the following are their answers:

Paolo Ballesteros - "Ayaw naman namin mag claim that this movie is done for the people to be aware on LGBTQ, may point na ganun but aside from that, sa Panti Sisters gusto namin magbigay ng kasiyahan sa mga tao. It is a light comedy film to watch on Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino"

Watch below as the cast, Paolo Ballesteros, Christian Bables, Martin Del Rosario, Luis Hontiveros, Mark McMahon, Addy Raj and Carmi Martin together with the director Jun Lana talk about their film, share fun facts while filming and their views and insights on the rights and current issue of LGBT.

The cast revealed that The Panti Sisters is also a family film that celebrate love and sisterhood. Aside from being one of the entries of Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2019, director Jun Lana was proud of being able to put three Gawad Urian awardees as his lead actors in this movie.  Paolo Ballesteros and Christian Bables were Gawad Urian Best actor and Best Supporting actor awardees respectively in 2017, for their portrayals in Die Beautiful, a movie which Jun also directed and wrote. Recently, a nomination for Gawad Urian Best Actor was also given to Christian Bables for the movie Signal Rock. Meanwhile, Martin Del Rosarion had his Best Supporting Actor for Gawad Urian Award in 2015 for the movie Dagitab. Direk Jun Lana promised a "riot" comedy for his new new film, The Panti Sisters.

In the film, audiences will get to know Daniel (del Rosario), Samuel (Bables), and Gabriel (Ballesteros), the three gay brothers brought together by their dying father (John Arcilla) only to find themselves in a difficult situation when their father asks each of them for a grandchild in exchange for an extravagant inheritance. Living their lives separate from each other, the three are asked to move back to the mansion as they go against the odds to bear a child with the same Panti DNA.

The three must set aside their differences in order to really know what it means to become a true Panti. They might even realize the true meaning of family along the way. The Panti Sisters is a funny story about acceptance, respect and loving your own skin no matter what color of PANTIes you wear.

Along with Open, Black Sheep’s other entry to PPP3, The Panti Sisters aims to tell the story of the modern Filipino as we kick off the celebrations of the 100th year anniversary of Philippine Cinema. Black Sheep, The IdeaFirst Company, and Quantum Films all collaborate to bring the story of The Panti Sisters to cinemas nationwide.

The film also stars John Arcilla, Carmi Martin, Rosanna Roces, Roxanne Barcelo, Via Antonio, Ali Forbes, and Joross Gamboa.

Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2019 screenings will start on September 13 to 19 in cinemas nationwide.
