A
film is about Mauban Quezon and how chosen characters cope with
smalltown blues, if they stay, or decide to leave. A grieving widow, a
socially - handicapped genius, a helpless grandpa connect and disconnect
to create bumps in their flatline coastal lives.
Water Lemon for me is the surprise of the festival, an emotionally-captivating and well-filmed true tale with Jun-Jun Quintana's subtle performance that might bag him a best actor award for this festival supported by touching and affecting ensemble cast. The film's unique script remarkably succeeds in mashing together both charming and understated drama.
My Verdict: 4/5
