Movie Review: The Martian

When astronauts blast off from the planet Mars, they leave behind Mark Watney (Matt Damon), presumed dead after a fierce storm. With only a meager amount of supplies, the stranded visitor must utilize his wits and spirit to find a way to survive on the hostile planet. Meanwhile, back on Earth, members of NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring him home, while his crew mates hatch their own plan for a daring rescue mission.

After Gravity in 2013 and Interstellar last year, we have another must watch space movie this year. With breathtaking cinematography, The Martian is a brilliant, thrilling, and entertaining quality space movie. Truly spectacular and one of the best film I've seen this year. Visually stunning film that made for big screen. Matt Damon is perfect for Mark Watney. He delivers great and raw performance. I feel him in the scene that he finally allowed himself to cry. The film that is surprisingly funny and has good choice of music managed to tell a very smart and coherent story about one man spending years on an isolated planet in 2 hours without feeling boring. You are engaged watching the film and would not expect what's going to happen. Strongly recommended, great film!

My Verdict: 5/5
