Movie Review: MMFF Summer Student Film Festival





A man frustrated with the life he lives decides to follow his dreams.


My Verdict: 3/5




A Girl named Liz went to a graduation outing with friends unknown to his father who is out of town for work, when her father returned, her whereabouts are uncertain and she is considered missing in her household. Rica, Liz’s older sister is left oppressed by her father blaming her for tolerating Liz which leads to her sister’s loss.


My Verdict: 4/5



Adrian (Ross Pesigan), a young man fighting the spectre of his own mortality and living with AIDS, has resigned himself to living out his final days at a hospital where he can be looked after. With the patients he shares a room with in critical condition, Adrian's only true solace is with his nurse, Sandy (Anna Luna), who ends his search for the compassionate, unwavering human connection he's yearned for so long but could never find. Beneath their friendship, however, lingered a reality that would implicate the two as being more than they thought possible.


My Verdict: 4/5 



Drama Station tells the story of a student who tries to find a way to escape from all the reverberations of her poor life choices in the past. She goes to a secluded place to shut herself off from the world and loosen up.

A well written script that that amazinlgy shows the character deeper in just one sequence.

El Muerte del un Mariposa is a story about revenge and despair of an innocent woman named Luna. Dennis (husband) shows disloyalty and immoral actions by killing his own son and womanizing in front of his wife. Luna, too weak to literally fight back to her husband, revenges harshly by harming her husband’s mistress and son from another woman without Dennis knowing it.


My Verdict: 3/5




A teenage boy finds himself in a predicament wherein he was being scolded by her mother for no reason. He contemplates and projects scenarios in his head figuring out why. Eventually, he finds himself in the shoes of his mother because of his obnoxious friend. Now he faces a decision whether his action towards him will start a chain of events that will affect his friend’s life, or will he contemplate again and make the best out of it.


My Verdict: 3.5/5 
 



A young engkanto lives in an apartment owned by Mang Romy. Every time a new tenant comes in, like Brittney, the young engkanto bothers and tries to play with the tenant. As times goes by, the young engkanto becomes clingy and selfish to the tenant’s life. If the tenant refuses to play, they pay the price of the anger of the young engkanto and turns them into her toy as a clay.


My Verdict: 3.5/5 




This story is all about a camera that is being transfer from one person to another after buying at camera house, later on it will back again to the camera house with a mysterious people. John a student photographer bought the camera to practice his skills on photography he always shoot people at street because the camera LCD is broken he can’t look at the image so after every shoot he always check it on his laptop. He always find a small shadow on the every pictures that he shoot, every time he took a photo and every time he look at his laptop small shadows begins to grow abstract at first, John thought that it is because of lens so he borrow lens to test whether it is on camera or on lens after he shoot he was shocked to what he saw on the registered image that he captured a shadow of a crime when someone stubs another people, he can’t believe to what he saw so he open the first photo that he captured and after reviewing it and he found a sequence of a murder on the shadows in every pictures he shoot. The camera shutter click rapidly and when he turned back something happened. After that a new set of camera is being delivered to camera house with a same person a mysterious person.


My Verdict: 3/5 




Joy Love is mentally-ill patient with anthrophobia, fear of people. She is only friends with Chickie, a talking eagle stuffed toy. Although Chickie talks to her, she never talks back to him. And then one day, as Joy Love’s birthday approaches, Chickie plans to surprise her along with his friends leading to the revelation of their secrets.


My Verdict: 3/5

A charming short film that will make you wish you were a kid again.
