Wish Date Love Tales Review: A Night of Love, Music, and Heartfelt Performances

If you’re looking for the perfect mix of kilig, heartache, and timeless OPM hits, Wish Date Love Tales delivers it all in one magical evening. Part concert, part theater, this production proves that love stories are best told not only through acting but also through music that hits straight to the heart.

A Short Film That Hits All the Right Notes

The short film element of Wish Date Love Tales is surprisingly effective. It has all the familiar tropes we’ve loved for years—the kilig moments, the heartbreaks, and the bittersweet turns that make you root for the characters.

Joao and Vivoree shine in their roles. Both have been in the industry for years, and it feels right that they’re finally given this kind of spotlight. Their chemistry works, and they carry the story with sincerity. The supporting cast is just as impressive. Lienel Navidad, as Joao’s new girlfriend, leaves a mark with her grounded portrayal, especially during the intense confrontation scene with Vivoree. And of course, the legendary Susan Africa adds emotional depth—her presence is always a delight.

Music That Stays With You

But what makes Wish Date Love Tales unforgettable is the music. Every performance feels intentional, with no fillers. The audience was buzzing, especially with Gigi De Lana, who once again proved why she’s a crowd favorite—her renditions were flawless, heartfelt, and walang tapon.

The lineup of iconic singers—Christian Bautista, Kitchie Nadal, Aquila, and Dingdong Avanzado—was carefully curated for maximum emotional impact. They knew exactly what songs to bring out for the millennial audience, songs that not only trigger nostalgia but also heighten the emotions of the story.

The setlist itself was superb. My personal highlights:

  • Gigi De LanaTill My Heartaches End and To Love You More (undeniably powerful, the kind that makes you cry and sing along at the same time)

  • Kitchie NadalBulong and Huwag Na Huwag Mong Sasabihin (the energy lifted the whole crowd!)

  • Christian BautistaBeautiful Girl and Rainbow (classic OPM charm that never fails)

  • Dingdong AvanzadoSa Aking Puso (pure nostalgia!)

  • Aquila PackingPorque (soulful and mesmerizing)

By the time the final notes of Till My Heartaches End echoed in the hall, you could feel the audience holding back tears. It was that moving.

Despite its length, the show never dragged. With the perfect balance of storytelling and musical numbers, the four hours felt immersive—you simply lose yourself in the story and songs.

Wish Date: Love Tales is more than just a show—it’s an experience. It blends theater and concert seamlessly, giving audiences a night of laughter, tears, and endless sing-alongs. For fans of love stories and OPM classics, this is a must-watch.
