Time Travel, Romance, and Drama: I Love You Since 1892 Leaps from Wattpad to Viva One

The highly anticipated Viva One original series I Love You Since 1892 is finally making its way from the pages of Wattpad to the screen this September 6, 2025. Ahead of its premiere, the cast and creators gathered for a media conference to talk about the adaptation, address fans’ concerns, and share their excitement for the project.

Lead stars Heaven Peralejo, Jerome Ponce, and Joseph Marco opened up about some of the criticisms they faced when the casting was first revealed.

Jerome Ponce admitted that while he was hurt by negative comments, he chose to focus on the support he receives from the production team.

Joseph Marco and Heaven Peralejo echoed the same sentiment, saying that they are committed to giving justice to the roles entrusted to them and proving their worth through their performances.

Author Binibining Mia, whose Wattpad novel has amassed over 132 million reads, also took the stage to address readers who initially felt disappointed with the casting.

She acknowledged that people grow and change, just as her characters do.

Director McArthur Alejandre expressed his deep admiration for author Binibining Mia, sharing that even National Artist Ricky Lee had read her lengthy novel I Love You Since 1892 in full. He assured fans that he will take great care in staying faithful to the source material, adding that he could clearly hear Mia’s voice as a 19-year-old while going through the story, which makes the adaptation even more special.

On a lighter note, the three leads showed just how close they’ve become. Heaven revealed that she and Jerome have long been friends through their “Univerkada” circle, joking about Jerome’s unique sense of humor.

She also admitted she was pleasantly surprised by Joseph Marco’s playful personality. Joseph teased the audience by saying he’s a “Marven” (Joseph Marco + Heaven Peralejo) supporter, which sent everyone laughing during the presscon.

It’s clear that beyond the heavy romance and historical drama of the series, the cast has built a bond that will reflect on-screen.

For those unfamiliar, I Love You Since 1892 follows Carmela Isabella (Heaven Peralejo), who is transported back in time after discovering her great-great-grandmother Carmelita’s diary. Taking Carmelita’s place in 1892, she finds herself entangled in a love triangle between Juanito Alfonso (Jerome Ponce), the intelligent yet conflicted son of a gobernadorcillo, and Leandro Flores (Joseph Marco), Carmelita’s ex-lover returning from Cuba.

Amid love, betrayal, and political unrest, Carmela must fulfill her mission while navigating emotions she didn’t expect to feel.

Director McArthur Alejandre emphasized that the series will be both visually stunning and true to the spirit of the beloved novel. “It has a very young, very energetic vibe, and I promise you will be satisfied visually,” he said.

 

With a stellar support cast that includes Christian Vasquez, Louise Delos Reyes, Anna Luna, Christopher Roxas, and Suzette Ranillo, the adaptation promises to deliver both emotional depth and grand storytelling.

With its powerful message about love that transcends time, I Love You Since 1892 is ready to touch even more hearts beyond Wattpad.
