Movie Review: Unbreakable

Unbreakable revolves around the story of Deena Yambao (Angelica) and Mariel Salvador (Bea Alonzo) who have been best friends since college, seeing each other's ups and downs in life.

Their friendship is gradually challenged when they marry into the same family.

Will these two strong women's friendship survive tests to their friendship?

Unbreakable is a cinematic movie event that should not be miss as watching two of the biggest actress of their generation in big screen is truly mesmerizing. From their intense acting up to their powerful chemistry, Bea and Angelica gave us their finest performance for this film. They both show the dynamics of their character as Mariel and Deena and you can feel that they support each other when they have scenes together as they give way to bring out the best in each other.  Bea Alonzo shines on her quiet moments and nuances and she makes us feel through her acting and performance for this film that she is a supportive friend that you would like to have. Angelica shines on her breakdown scenes whenever she feels guilty of herself and shines with her confrontational scenes with Bea where she gave all out and will let you feel what’s inside her heart.

Richard Gutierrez is such an eye candy for this film that that as he looks very young, fresh and attractive for his age. He has his shining moment showcasing his acting prowess. I miss watching him on this kind of film and  look forward for more of him for this kind of project that will challenge him as an actor. Ian Veneracion on the other hand, complements well with Angelica and their pairing still looks raw and fresh even if they already worked together in the remake of of Pangako Sa'yo as Claudia and Eduardo.

Unbreakable also boasts of its ensemble acting of its supporting cast from Gloria Diaz, Rosanna Roces up to Via Antonio. The story is relatable, the narrative is fast paced, the editing is accurate and the screenplay is campy that will surely loved by the pinoy audience. It has all the elements and formula of the typical Filipino drama film but done in a good way. I miss this kind of treatment in local film and  hopes that Star Cinema still continue to do this kind of film once in a while.
Unbreakable is truly the grandest movie event of the year as it has great actors,
it is relatable, celebrates journey of friendship and will let you experience variation of emotions and of course championing of love and forgiveness. It's been a while that I cry for a film inside the cinema so it is gage that this film will truly affect you.

My Verdict : 4.5/5
