Movie Review: The Heiress

Maricel Sorinao plays LUNA, the aunt and surrogate mother of GUIA (Janella). Luna devotes her life to protect Guia, and shield her from those who want to harm and hurt her. Luna is a powerful "Mambabarang" (Demon Sorceress) who'd ruthlessly punish or kill anyone who would steal from her Guia's love and attention, including her biological mother, CARMEN (Sunshine), and her boyfriend, RENZ (Mccoy de Leon).

Unbeknownst to Guia, she is the next heiress, and the only one who can stop the evil spirit Malalarang that controls Luna.

But at the same time, since she is the heir, Guia is also capable of inheriting the powers of her aunt and can also be a threat to those who will belittle her.

Another pinoy classic horror film is born via The Heiress. It is filled with terror that deserved to be seen  with great acting by Maricel Soriano, Sunshine Cruz and Janella Salvador. The film is full of jump scares, gory and surprise element that will surely be a decent post holloween treat. Maricel Soriano nails her character very well as a  mysterious old maid that even if with her look alone in the film with no dialogue, you will get scared. I could say that The Heiress is another acting piece for Ms. Maricel Soriano that still have the brilliance of an actress. Janella is quite good as well that aside of having pretty face, she can also act and convincing in her scary scenes. Mccoy blends well with Janella and surprisingly the two have chemistry together. So if you are a fan of pinoy horror film, The Heiress is a good catch.

My Verdict: 3.5/5
