Movie Review: O

This black comedy, in which necrophiliac vampires run funeral parlors to collect blood from corpses which they process into red meth that they sell to their kind, dives deep into the pit of vampire drug culture and the lengths the undead will go for a fix. “It’s about vampires and a romcom with a love triangle, or a love square in our case” O centers on a a funeral parlor intern and closet necrophiliac who starts pushing blood after she meets a vampire drug lord whose sister she falls in love with, complicating matters even more than they already are.

Kudos for this film for giving an out the box and creative story telling. The vision of the director and the message of the film is on point even though the film choose a path of non traditional story telling. The visuals, treatment, color, production design, scoring and cinematography are so lit, well selected and effectively use for giving its audience something new to see on a Filipino film. Anna Luna's performance is also noteworthy and deserve to be praised as she gives life and color to the film together with her ci actress Jasmin Curtis-Smith, Sarah Carlos and Lauren Young. I really like the creativity and uniqueness of the film which for me stand out and well recommended to watch in this year’s Cinema One Originals 2019.

My Verdict: 4.5/5
