Movie Review: Boy Golden: Shoot To Kill

From the shadows of gangland Manila rises a familiar gangster; thought as dead by many but now back and thirsty for revenge. Arturo Porcuna, now known as “Boy Golden”, treads back to the streets of gangsters to seek revenge against an old adversary.

Along the way he meets Marla Dee, a sexy, stunning woman filled with vendetta against the same gang leader Boy Golden is after. Together, they join forces, along with a handful of friends, to satisfy their own thirsts of revenge.

Cinematography and Production Design is superb in this film. I think they will get those awards. For the production design naman talagang napakahusay dahil you will see the glossiness and creativity to make the whole setting a 1960’s for each different location.

A well made quality local action flick. I would also like to commend the fighting scenes here in the film especially with KC and dun sa Kung Fu girl.

For the artist’s performance ER Ejercito is good with his pokerface performance in this film. For KC Concepcion, bravo for the effort that she did in this film, first as a cabaret dancer and 2nd for the several stunts that she did in this film grabe ang hirap ng pinag gagawa niya sa pelikula. Watch out for the Gloria Sevilla’s character here. Wala pa ring kupas si Eddie Garcia. Jon Estrada is good here a potential best supporting actor. Tonton Gutierrez, Dick Israel, Roi Vinzon, Baron Geisler,Joem Bascon and Lui Manansala justified their character.

Overall the film is a masterpiece and well crafted. This is not the typical local action that you will see. A must see film on this MMFF 2013.

My Verdict: 4.5/5
