Experience Life, Love & Paradise in the film Siargao - MMFF 2017 Official Entry

The Surfing Capital of the Philippines takes front and center in acclaimed director-producer Paul Soriano's first Metro Manila Film Festival entry Siargao, starring Asia's Drama Prince Jericho Rosales and celebrated actresses Erich Gonzales and Jasmine-Curtis Smith.

More than showcasing and promoting the beautiful island and its majestic tourist spots, Direk Paul also aims to create an awareness to match the province's booming tourism.

The three lead stars of Siargao truly enjoy their experience doing the film as they like having a vacation while filming. They are also share insights on life and relationship lessons and being confidence on one's body. Jericho, Erich and Jasmin also joined forced to actively promote the preservation of the natural beauty of the Island of Siargao. Watch as the cast Jericho Rosales, Erich Gonzales, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, writer Anj Pessumal and director Paul Soriano share their fond moments and take us behind the scenes in filming Siargao.

Siargao revolves about the three characters Diego (Jericho), Laura (Erich) and Abi (Jasmin). Fresh from a public outburst and on the verge of quitting his band, 32-year old high-profile musician Diego Punzalan takes a trip to his province of Siargao to take a break from Manila’s public eye and rethink his place in his band.

There, he meets 29-year old Laura Molina, a perky but sassy fashion and beauty vlogger, who was recently dumped by her longtime boyfriend, Mikey, from whom she declined a wedding proposal. She has embarked on a solo trip to nurse her broken heart and challenge her fear of risks and independence.

With tension and chemistry running high, Diego challenges Laura to step out of her boundaries as they explore the places he once called home. Going back to his hometown also means going back to face the issues he left behind, including seeing Abi Williams, his Fil-Australian 27 year old former flame, the muse of many of his older love songs, one he shared a deep and heartbreaking history with.

In this small and secluded surf town where time moves slowly and people might come and go – but sometimes, never leave – the unlikely triangle of Diego, Laura, and Abi find themselves returning to their past decisions and mistakes while uncertain about the future the lies ahead. Where the tides change quickly and the ocean never stays still, they learn to take chances, and learn that, perhaps commitment might be the  biggest risk they will ever have to make.

Although Direk Paul's Ten17P Productions has produced Jasmine's indie film Transit (2013), Siargao is the first time that he gets to direct her, Erich and Jericho.

Erich couldn't be any happier that she's returning into the big screen after four years and with her first-ever tittle MMFF entry at that

The film also saw a lot of first for Erich including surfing, cliff jumping, going to Siargao, riding the motorbike and working with co-stars and her director.

Finally trying and get rejected in the Metro Manila Film Festival thrice, Direk Paul finally made it. But according to him, he's looking  forward experiencing one particular thing this coming Metro Manila Film Festival season.

Catch Ten17's latest opus, the Metro Manila Film Festival 2017 entry Siargao by Direk Paul Soriano starring Jericho Rosales, Jasmin Curtis-Smith and Erich Gonzales in cinemas nationwide starting December 25.
