Movie Review: Instalado

Victor lives in a time when the dominant form of education is through installation, a process wherein bodies of knowledge can be installed directly on people's brains using technology owned by big corporations. However, like many others in the agricultural town of Porac, Victor cannot afford the sky-high cost of installation, which he believes is the key to improve his family's life. To raise money for installation, Victor abandons farming and works as the housekeep of a wealthy childhood friend who has become extremely successful after undergoing a series of installations.

Instalado is a decently made pinoy sci-fi film that boasts of its big ideas and compelling narrative. It achieves what it tries to tell to the audience about the importance of values in life over intelligence. I really love Jason Paul Laxamana unique storytelling from Babagwa, Mercury Is Mine, 2 Cool 2 Be Forgotten up to Instalado. I'm looking forward for more of out of the box films that he will make.  The three main cast McCoy, Francis and JunJun are faithful to their characters. McCoy De Leon is good in his debut film. Francis Magundayao is excellent in this film that deserves an acting nod. JunJun Quintana justified her character. Instalado is one of the good catch in this years' ToFarm Film Festival

My Verdict: 4/5
