In honor of the Buwan ng Wika, the Film Development Council of the Philippine is partnering with commercial theaters to exclusively screen Filipino films nationwide on August 16-22, 2017 dubbed as Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino. This week long celebration is a festivity with a wide variety of genre films to choose from nationwide.
The incredible roster of films were selected by the reputable and highly regarded members of the PPP Selection Committee composed of Manet Dayrit (editor), Oggs Cruz (film critic), Ricky Lee (screenwriter), Erik Matti (director), Jose Javier Reyes (director), Iza Calzado (actress) and Lee Briones (cinematographer).
Announced on the Press Conference held last June 30 2017 at Sequioa Hotel in Quezon City, the following finalists were officially revealed:
1. 100 Tula Para Kay Stella - Directed by Jason Paul Laxamana and Produced by Viva Communications, Inc
2. Ang Manananggal Sa Unit 23B - Directed by Prime Cruz and Produced by The Idea First Company
3. AWOL - Directed by Enzo Williams and Produced by Skylight
4. Bar Boys - Directed by Kip Oebanda and Produced by Tropic Frills, Inc
5. Birdshot - Directed by Mikhail Red and Produced by TBA Studios
6. Hamog - Directed by Ralston Jover and Produced by CPI / Cinema One
7. Paglipay - Directed by Zig Dulay and Produced by TOFARM
8. Patay Na Si Hesus - Directed by Victor Villanueva and Produced by T-Rex Entertainment Productiion
9. Pauwi Na - Directed by Paolo Villaluna and Produced by Universal Harvester Inc.
10. Salvage - Directed by Sherad Sanchez and Produced by CPI / Cinema One
11. Star Na Si Vandamme Stallone - Directed by Randolph Longjas and Produced by Unitel x Straight Shooters
12. Triptiko - Directed by Miguel Franco Michelena and Produced by Michelena Brothers Production
Highlights of the Press Launch
The finalists are in various genres, ranging from family oriented to coming-of-age, romance, horror, and even action films. The public can look forward to national mall caravans and school tours in promotion of PPP starting July.
