Movie Review: Somebody To Love

Twelve people over the course of a week go through a wide range of experiences relating to love and heartbreak.

Somebody to Love is a well-made pinoy ensemble romantic comedy movie. I enjoyed watching this film from the start till the end. We all know that Direk Jose Javier Reyes already master this kind of ensemble  movie from the films that he has done before like Radio Romance, Working Girls 2010 and One Night Only. It’s a challenge for Direk Joey para padugtung dugtungin ang mga story ng 12 main character sa pelikulang ito at nagawa niya ito ng maayos na hindi pilit ang pagkakatahi  ng story. We all know kung gaano kagaling din na manunulat si Direk Joey at kitang kita din ito sa pelikulang ito. The film is well written and got a good screenplay.

The film tackles the story of modern relationship integrated with the current technology and social network. The film is also a social satire that would like to make statement about our society. So this is like a mash up of Abangan ang Susunod ng Kabanata at Working Girls 2010. And still effective for me para maentertain ako at mahook sa story ng pelikula.

I would also like to commend Carla Abellana for her natural acting here that I think dito ko lang siya nakita na pinakacomfortable siya at di pilit yung acting. Carla and Jason Abalos has good chemistry as well on the screen bagay sila, mahusay sila umarte at nagustuhan ko iyong story nila. Mateo, Maricar Reyes, David Chua and Ms. Jaclyn Jose are also good.

I like the theme song of the movie Kung Wala Na Nga by 6Cycle Mind. No wonder that this film got Rated A on Cinema Evaluation Board as the film deserves it.

My Verdict: 3.5/5
