Film Academy of the Philippines Hosts 2026 International Emmy® Awards Semi-Final Round of Judging in Manila in a historic first for the Philippines

 

The prestigious International Emmy® Awards held a Semi-Final Round of Judging in Manila, Philippines on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Hosted by the Film Academy of the Philippines, the first in-person Judging session held in the country brought together a distinguished panel of  regional and global industry executives to judge entries in the Arts Programming Category. An International Academy of  Television Arts & Sciences representative oversaw the session.  

The Film Academy of the Philippines assembled a distinguished panel of judges which included acclaimed directors Ruel Bayani, Jade Castro and Jet Leyco, musician Bullet Dumas, animator Avid Liongoren, broadcast journalist Kara Magsanoc-Alikpala, producer Maricel Ticar-Santos, and Cultural Center of the Philippines President Kaye Tinga. 

The Semi-Final Round of Judging is a key stage in the International Emmy® Awards competition, where entries are judged from around the world across various categories. Nominees will be announced in September, ahead of the International Emmy® Awards ceremony held in New York City on November 23.

The Film Academy of the Philippines is a government agency mandated to advance the professionalization, upskilling, recognition, and protection of workers in the Philippine audiovisual industry. Through its divisions and partnerships, the Academy supports the guilds, develops and trains film workers, recognizes excellence through its awards and honors, and champions the rights and welfare of audiovisual workers nationwide.
