The film revolves around a worried son who seeks to find a man as a partner for his single mother. Maricar (Sharon Cuneta) lost her husband when her son Mateo or Matty
(Alden Richards) was only five years old and she has raised him as a
single mom doing various jobs.
Now, Matty is 28 years old, works in an advertising company, and has
asked her mom to stop working as he feels it’s his turn to serve her.
Maricar is happy just attending to the needs of her son and tending to
her plants.
Matty gets attracted to his immediate boss, Zari (Miles Ocampo), but he
cannot freely express his feelings for her. Planning to move to Singapore with his girlfriend, Mateo seeks to find a new partner for his mother.
Family
of Two is an entertaining mother and son film that is grounded by
emotion and authenticity. Sharon Cuneta and Alden Richards truly connect
and have overflowing chemistry on this film. You can feel the love and
emotion to the character they portray in the film. The story showcase in
the film is not the usual story tackled in mainstream family film and
kudos for bringing it to the big screen. Miles Ocampo is also good in
this film and she brings brilliance to her acting for this film. I
appreciate her more in this film and she truly shines on her own and has
a potential of best supporting actress comes the awards night. Overall Family of Two is a simple touching family film. You will definitely hug your mom after watching this.
My Verdict: 4/5
