This romance drama film is about a man who at a certain point in his
life feels guilty of his life choices. All these after not being
promoted in his work, being estranged from his father and son and a
having a rocky marriage and then his wife dies in a car accident. One
day he meets a man who offers him a once-in-a-lifetime deal — to rewind
his life and correct all his mistakes and repair his relationship with
his wife and family on one condition — he has to die in place of his
wife. He believes the man to be Jesus. With everything to lose and to
hope for, John rewinds his life and discovers that the true meaning of
happiness comes from the thing he has taken for granted: LOVE.
Rewind is a film that brings back the classic family story in the tradition of Tanging Yaman, Mano Po and up to Family Matters. It is a film made for love and for family where family is the center of the story. It is good that we have this kind of film once again in MMFF in which the whole family can watch together and reflect after watching. Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera deliver a heartfelt and effective performance in this film in which you can feel the love, pain and happiness of having a family. Dingdong is effective from being a hard-hearted to a loving husband and father. He delivers a range of emotions that shows his capability as an actor. Marian Rivera is definitely good in this film and delivered as a submissive wife. She is consistent and delivered from start to finish. I can say that this is her best film as an actress and deserves an acting award comes the awards night. Jordan Lim is also good as a natural child actor in this film. He is the added heart and core center of the film. It is true that you need to bring a lot of tissues as this film will melt your heart and make you cry out loud after watching. So if you want to watch a quality family movie this Christmas, Rewind is a must watch.
My Verdict: 4/5
