After 8 years of marriage, a childless couple named Clark and Eileen meet a little girl who one day, came knocking at their door claiming to be Clark's child. Despite the unexpected situation, the wife accepts the child and temporarily fosters her while figuring the next steps. Meanwhile, Clark investigates the child's history while Eileen begins to develop an odd and eerie relation with the child. Also strange occurrences happen around the couple's life - with ominous voices, visions of death and rebirth and night stalkers, that all escalate the paranoia in the household. As the seemingly innocent child grows more fond of Eileen, Clark must decide between erasing his past to save his marriage or embracing the truth and the demons that come along with it.
Kampon is an elevated horror that stands out with its deeply creepy
visuals and elevated tension as the story unfolds. Its oddness and
atmospheric vibes adds mystery to the film. An effective horror film
that makes you think while watching. It is not the usual horror film
that relies on jumpscare but it focuses on the development of story and
compelling screenplay. All of the cast delivers to the requirements of
their character and you will feel the fear in their eyes and nuances.
Derek Ramsay is surprisingly good at doing horror while Beauty shines in
her nuances. Zeinab is good as well as a newcomer actress. The child
actress Yuri is promising and delivers a gripping performance that will
make you scared and wonder. So if you are a fan of horror, Kampon is a
must watch!
My Verdict: 4.5/5
