Movie Review: Meet Me In St. Gallen

Jesse and Celeste meet at an unexpected time in their lives at a coffee shop. They then realize their names are the same as the characters in the popular break-up romantic comedy, "Celeste and Jesse Forever."

Meet Me in St. Gallen set the tone of an atmospheric conversational film that is elevated by  the right leads that simply possesses noble talent in acting and good chemistry on screen. A careful pacing with three different timeline and two three-dimensional characters are what  makes this romantic film so realistic and involving.  A wonderful and sincere portrait of a love story at the wrong time.  Well written, smooth flowing and natural performance with unusual depth and subtle from Carlo Aquino and Bela Padilla.  The visual of the film is commendable especially the St. Gallen scenes that felt like I'm watching a hollywood film. The director's treatment, narrative  and musical scoring  are unique that rarely seen in pinoy romantic local flick. I also like the love love scene of Carlo and Bela in the film  in which you can really feel the love and affection. Meet Me in St. Gallen is a film that breaks the cycle of the usual local romantic film by telling a love story of two people which we can relate to.

My Verdict:  5/5
