5 Hollywood Films That We Can't Wait For in 2017

Although it’s only halfway into 2016, there are already several major blockbusters set to be released in 2017. If you are a real fan of cinema, then you must be getting excited for 2017. It is setting up to be one of the best years in the history of film if everything turns out right! I say that because, you know as well as I do, sometimes movies can fall short of our expectations. However, we are not going to stop setting the bar high and thus is the case with the following five films set for release in 2017:

Wolverine 3

As a fan of the X-Men franchise, it pains me to know that Wolverine 3 will be the last movie Hugh Jackman plays Wolverine. Hopefully, this will give him a reason to provide us with a breathtaking performance. There is not too much known about the plot, but there are rumors. What we do know for sure, at least at the moment, is it is set to be released on March 3, 2017. I say "at the moment"; because it can be changed just as quickly. Even if this movie ends up being a disaster, it will still be worth watching just to see Hugh Jackman unleash his fury as Wolverine one last time.

Jumanji

Unbelievably enough, it appears as though there is going to be another Jumanji movie. It's a safe bet to assume that if Robin Williams were still alive, he would reprise his role. Unfortunately, this is not the case and so far the movie has Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson pegged in. These are certainly odd-ball choices, but they are good actors in their own right. The only aspect of the movie that is known at the moment is that it is a “re-imagining” of the first film. Some people have, rightfully so, voiced their displeasure with this movie being remade. Although this is a fair point, it doesn';t change the fact that Jumanji will be a must-see movie when it comes out in July of 2017.

 Alien: Covenant

The Alien franchise has been around for what seems like forever. The first film debuted in 1979 and nearly 40 years later, the franchise is continuing to go on strong. Of course, the “going on strong” is certainly up for debate as far as content goes but they are still driving in the money. The current plot for Alien: Covenant is much like the previous installments, in a way. Crew members of the Covenant think that they discover an undiscovered paradise, but they soon find out that it's a dark and demented world. The only inhabitant that they come across is David, who survived the Prometheus expedition. Currently, it is pegged in to be released on August 4, 2017.

Kong: Skull Island

Hopefully, Kong: Skull Island will be a better effort than the stinker that was Godzilla. Heck, all the movie developers have to do is actually show us King Kong, and it will be better. This film should have nothing to do with King Kong, which was released several years ago. Kong: Skull Island will be a reboot of the franchise, but not much is known about the actual plot line. It will be interesting to see if they throw any connection to Godzilla in the movie, given that Legendary Pictures is again producing it. However, we do know that there will be an ensemble cast in the film, which has a tentative release date of March 10, 2017.

John Wick: Chapter Two

The first John Wick was a fantastic action film that allowed Keanu Reeves to do what he does best: kick butt without talking much. The story line of John Wick: Chapter Two looks like it will be just as shallow as the first installment. The premise goes: one of John Wick's former associates is planning to take control over a shady assassination guild and he must travel to Rome where he will fight against the world’s deadliest killers. Given that the first movie had a sub-par plot and was still fantastic, this plot shouldn't be much of an issue. Let's just hope that they continue to show the characterization of John Wick because that is what made the first movie so good.
