World Premieres Film Festival Philippines - Filipino New Cinema Official Finalists Announced



The films to compete in the "Filipino New Cinema" section of the World Premieres Film Festival Philippines 2015 have been selected.

This section will feature 8 new Filipino films from contemporary filmmakers who are looking to premiere their latest works before an international audience in the Philippines. This provides the festival with a section highlighting films produced and made by the host country.

Awards for this section include film grants of varying amounts as well as awards for Best Picture (1st and 2nd place), Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Musical Score, Best Sound Engineering, Best Production Design, and Best Performance by an Actor, Best Performance by an Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress. The awards shall be given by a special jury comprised of experts in Philippine cinema.

 

The 8 films selected into Filipino New Cinema section are:
 
1. Ang Kubo sa Kawayanan  - Directed by Alvin Yapan
    Starring: Mercedes Cabral and RK Bagatsing

2. Ang Kwento Nating Dalawa - Directed by Nestor Abrogena s
    Starring: Nicco Manalo

3. Filemon Mamon - Directed by Will Fredo 
    Starring: Smokey Manaloto, Nanette Inventor, Rayver Cruz, Miles Ocampo, 
    Giselle Sanchez,  Joshua Colet, and introducing Jerome Ignacio in the title   
    role

4. I Love you. Thank you - Directed by Charliebebs Gohetia / Bebs Sabellano
    Gohetia
    Starring: Joross Gamboa, Ae Pattawan, Prince Stefan, and CJ Reyes

5. Maskara - Directed by Genesis Nolasco 
    Starring: Ina Feleo, Ping Medina, Lester Llansang, Lance Raymundo II,
    and Ms Boots Anson Roa

6. Of Sinners and Saints - Directed by Ruben Maria Soriquez 
     Starring Ruben Maria Soriquez, Polo Ravales, Raymond Bagatsing, Richard  
     Quan Lmfi and Channel Latorre 

7. Piring - Directed by Carlos Morales / Craig Woodruff Jr 
    Starring: Krista Miller, Yusseff Estevez, Bembol Roco, Tessie Tomas, Rocky
    Salumbides, and Teri Aunor

8. Sino nga ba si Pangkoy Ong - Directed by Jonah Lim 
    Starring: Kiko Matos and Lara Villar


World Premieres Film Festival Philippines Will Run From June 24 - July 7 2015 In Selected SM Cinemas in Metro Manila
