AS part of the commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of one of the great Filipina Katipuneras, Gregoria De Jesus, The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) classified the biographical film “Lakambini, Gregoria De Jesus” as rated PG (Parental Guidance).
A PG rating means the film’s themes and scenes are suitable for viewers aged 13 and below provided they are accompanied by a parent or supervising adult.
The film follows the inspiring life of Gregoria “Oriang” de Jesus, the Lakambini ng Katipunan, whose courage and love of country reflect the vital role of women in the fight for Philippine Independence. Through her story, the film also honors the herorism of countless Filipinas who stood side by side with their fellow patriots, proving that women too were fighters and defenders of freedom.
“As part of our support to Philippine historical films, the Board remains committed to providing age-appropriate classification that help guide parents and viewers in making informed viewing choices,” said MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto.
“Films like Lakambini, Gregoria De Jesus not only enrich our appreciation of history and culture but also serve as meaningful tools in fostering responsible and mindful viewing among Filipino audiences.”
Alongside this local release, The MTRCB also classified foreign films with age-appropriate rating.
The animated movie, “Peppa Meets the Baby Cinema Experience,” is rated G (General Audience) suitable for all ages.
“Predator: Badlands,” is also rated PG. It follows a young Predator outcast from his clan who finds an unlikely ally in his journey for the ultimate adversary.
“The Grieving,” a suspense drama about a mourning daughter who attempts to understand her late father hauntings, and the sci-fi action, “World Breaker,” which tells the story of a father who hides his daughter in an island to keep her safe while he equips her for survival are both rated R-13, restricting viewership to aged 13 and above.
Meanwhile, the black comedy dramas, “Die My Love,” about a young mother who develops postpartum depression and alongside her partner who enters psychosis, and “Bugonia” which tells the story of two young men who kidnap a powerful CEO, suspecting that she is secretly an alien who wants to destroy Earth, are rated R-16, suitable for viewers aged 16 and above only.
Through its age-appropriate classification, the MTRCB continues to guide Filipino viewers—especially parents and guardians—in making responsible choices for themselves and their families.
