THE Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has released ratings for two anticipated Filipino films, the “KMJS’ Gabi ng Lagim the Movie,” and “Salvageland.”
“KMJS’ Gabi ng Lagim the Movie” received an R-13 rating, restricting viewers to aged 13 and above.
Produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs, the film is a cinematic adaptation of the popular Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS) Halloween special and features three stories inspired by real-life paranormal encounters.
“Salvageland,” an action film starring Richard Gomez and Elijah Canlas, was rated R-16 for viewers aged 16 and above.
Set near Mount Pinatubo, the movie follows a veteran police officer (Gomez) and his rookie son (Canlas) as they defend their station when a syndicate seeks refuge with them.
Four foreign films also received age-appropriate ratings from the MTRCB.
“Zootopia 2,” an animated buddy-cop comedy from Walt Disney Animation Studios, is rated PG for aged 13 and below, accompanied by a parent or supervising adult.
“Tha Rae: The Exorcist,” a Thai supernatural horror film, and “Keeper,” an American folk horror, are both rated R-13.
“The Ghost Village,” a Thai horror, is rated R-16 due to its dark comedic elements, sexual content, violence and intense horror themes.
MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto said the Board ensured that all submitted materials had received appropriate ratings.
“At the MTRCB, it is our duty to ensure that films are reviewed with diligence and fairness,” Sotto said. “Our ratings serve as a guide to help parents make informed viewing choices and to protect Filipino children from content that may not be suitable for their age.”
