Movie Review: Nasaan Si Hesus

Nasaan Si Hesus? is more than just a movie—it is an emotional journey that encourages reflection on life, faith, and the challenges we all face. Set in the humble village of Sto. Niño, the film explores the lives of its residents as they grapple with personal struggles, moral dilemmas, and the search for meaning in their daily lives. From Roger and his family, whose seemingly perfect household is shaken by the consequences of sin, to Fr. Carlo, the parish priest confronting his own anger and weaknesses, each character offers a glimpse into the human struggle between faith and doubt. Meanwhile, Sister Remedios dedicates herself to caring for street children, despite the hesitant guidance of novice Sister Alma, and Lucy, a single mother, battles poverty and the temptation of drugs as she tries to survive for the sake of her child. The community itself faces the pressures of selfish employers and opportunistic politicians, reflecting struggles that are relatable and deeply human.

What truly sets this film apart, however, are its musical numbers. The songs, crafted by Mrs. Lourdes “Bing” Pimentel, are heartfelt and moving, perfectly complementing the emotional depth of the story. Performances by Jeffrey Hidalgo, Rachel Alejandro, and Geneva Cruz are remarkable, with voices that resonate long after the movie ends. A revelation in the film is Salome Salvi, whose singing dazzles with high notes and emotional nuance, while her acting prowess brings depth and authenticity to her character. It’s also a delight to see Rachel Gabreza, who transitions beautifully from her singing background in Tawag ng Tanghalan to acting, proving herself to be a talented newcomer. Marissa Sanchez adds charm and warmth with her musical presence, providing both joy and entertainment to the audience.

Directed by Dennis N. Marasigan, the film balances touching storytelling with the emotional weight of a musical, creating a cinematic experience that is both entertaining and engaging. The ensemble cast, including Janno Gibbs, Via Antonio, Chloe Jenna, Cecil Paz, and special appearances by Bembol Roco and Jerald Napoles, brings the community of Sto. Niño vividly to life, allowing viewers to truly connect with each character’s journey.

Nasaan Si Hesus? is a movie about hope, redemption, and the universal search for God in everyday life. It challenges audiences to reflect on their own lives while being swept away by the beauty of music and heartfelt performances. For those who love musicals and stories that touch the soul, this film is not to be missed.

Exclusively showing in SM Cinemas starting December 3, 2025.

My Verdict: 3/5
