Forty years after Bagets captured the hearts of Filipino youth, the beloved barkada is back—this time on stage. Bagets The Musical unveiled its full cast and creative team during an exclusive press conference on November 14 at the Grand Bar and Lounge of Newport World Resorts, giving media attendees a nostalgic first look at the theatrical adaptation of the iconic 1984 film.
Leading the revival are Jeff Moses and Sam Shoaf as Topee, the martial arts enthusiast and athletic heartthrob originally portrayed by JC Bonnin. Migo Valid and Milo Cruz step into the shoes of Tonton, the daring daredevil first brought to life by William Martinez. Noel Comia Jr. and Tomas Rodriguez play Gilbert, the class clown made unforgettable by Herbert Bautista. KD Estrada and Ethan David take on Arnel, the conyo boy, originally played by Raymond Lauchengco. Rounding out the barkada are Mico Hendrix Chua and Andres Muhlach as Adie, the charming, baby-faced romantic role first played by Aga Muhlach.
Adding warmth and humor to the story are the ermats, or the mothers of the barkada. Neomi Gonzales portrays Ana, Topee’s mother; Kakai Bautista and Natasha Cabrera alternate as Delia, Tonton’s mom; Mayen Cadd plays Ditas, Arnel’s mother; Ring Antonio takes on Luz, Gilbert’s mom; and Carla Guevara Laforteza stars as Virgie, Adie’s mother.
The energetic ensemble cast brings the spirit of the ’80s to life. Female performers include Ava Santos (Ivy), Sam Marasigan (Janice), Brigitta Marilla (Melissa), Yani Lopez (Rose), alongside Yna Arbiol, Andrea Babierra, Jana Baniasa, Misha Fabian, Mia Micucci, Air Paz-Pablico, Abi Sulit-Racho, Ada Tayao, and Abegail Turiano. The male ensemble features Gie Onida (Father), Jon Abella, Ivan Arboladura, Roi Calilong, Carlos Canlas, Jay Cortez, Moi Gealogo, Gerald Magallanes, John Moran, Arnel Sablas, Vyen Villanueva, and Dan Wesley.
