Barefoot Theatre Collaborative is bringing back one of the most talked-about productions of 2024 — Bar Boys: The Musical — now reimagined in an all-new staging set to open on October 24, 2025 at the Hyundai Hall, Areté in Quezon City.
To kick off the road to opening night, the cast and creative team gathered with students and theater fans at UP Town Center for a special Orientation Day event. The afternoon buzzed with energy as audiences got a first look at song and scene snippets, joined in games and raffles, tried the claw machine booth, and participated in a lively talkback with the cast.
Fans were treated to moments with Alex Diaz, Benedix Ramos, Omar Uddin, Jerome Ponce, and members of the ensemble, who shared their excitement about returning to the stage and giving audiences a fresh, bigger, and bolder version of the hit musical.
Originally staged in 2024, Bar Boys: A New Musical quickly became a phenomenon, selling out two runs and drawing over 9,000 audience members. More than just a story about law school, the show struck a chord for its heartfelt celebration of dreams, ambition, and friendship — told in a way that felt honest, timely, and distinctly Filipino.
This 2025, the production evolves from “a new musical” into Bar Boys: The Musical, stepping onto a larger stage with newly imagined direction, staging, choreography, and design. According to Barefoot Theatre Collaborative, the rerun isn’t just a repeat — it’s a complete re-staging that deepens its story and music while embracing bolder artistic risks.
Bar Boys: The Musical follows the journey of four friends — Erik, Chris, Torran, and Josh — as they chase their dream of becoming lawyers. Along the way, they face trials of ambition, identity, and loyalty, testing both their values and their friendship.
Returning to their roles are Benedix Ramos (Erik), Alex Diaz (Chris), Jerom Canlas (Torran), Omar Uddin (Josh), and Sheila Francisco (Justice Hernandez), along with an expanded ensemble of returning and new cast members.
The show is written by Pat Valera (book & lyrics) and Myke Salomon (music & lyrics), based on the film by Kip Oebanda, with Mikko Angeles leading as director for this staging.
Bar Boys: The Musical opens on October 24, 2025 for a limited engagement until November 23, 2025 at the Hyundai Hall, Areté, Quezon City.
