Actress-producer Rebecca Chuaunsu says her movie “Her Locket” is a love letter to Fil-Chinese women

By Archie Liao

“But going through the research, and the materials, and telling the story with Direk J.E Tiglao, sometimes it's painful," aniya. “So the story became a tapestry, a weaving of the stories from the director, from the writer and myself, as a storyteller,” aniya.

“Actually, I bring my real life lawyer here who’s also in the cast. At the same time, we have a disclaimer. Not all parts will be biographical,”paglilinaw niya.

Hindi rin niya ikinaila na nahirapan siyang gumanap sa isang complex role ng isang babaeng may dementia sa kanyang first starring role in a movie.

“I was scared because I don’t have dementia yet so I researched and interviewed a lot of dementia patients, basically they’re my aunties and my older sister. I talked with them and they did not know that I was doing a research on the subject. We have also coaches provided by my director who supervised me on the set,”deklara niya.

"Honestly speaking I have doubts, even a day before the shoot," ani Rebecca. "Even on the last night, while we were shooting the disco scene, because I had to bring my husband to the hospital, and my son had COVID-19, so my mind was all over the place,"pahabol niya.

“I was a bit sleepy. They’re speaking French and I could not understand. Then somebody said, “Rebecca.” I stood up and I said, what happened? What did I win? ‘The best actress.” I was so elated so I praised the Lord,”pagbabahagi niya.

"I want the Chinese female voice to be heard because, in the Chinese-Filipino setting, the sons are always favored over the daughters. So, I just want the female's voice to be heard and to empower ourselves," pagtatapos niya.

Kesterson Kua at marami pang iba.
