A young couple navigates the
challenges of raising their autistic son in an increasingly unforgiving world,
testing their love and resilience.
College sweethearts Ayla and Paolo decide to drop out of school to start a family after a whirlwind romance leads to an unplanned pregnancy. Four years later, they are devastated to learn that their son, Kali, is diagnosed with autism. As they navigate the complexities of raising a child with special needs, they confront an increasingly unsupportive environment. Their journey challenges their relationship and the dream of a complete, harmonious family, forcing them to find strength and resilience in the face of adversity.
Love Child is a heartwarming and captivating film that
effectively conveys the unconditional love of parents to their child on
the spectrum. The blend of mainstream and indie elements, coupled with
powerful performances from RK Bagatsing and Jane Oineza, creates a
natural and emotional connection with the audience. RK Bagatsing nuances
as a loving father is powerful and effective. Jane Oineza on the other
hand express well her character through crisp and clear dialogue. The
chemistry of the two is evidently seen on the screen as they act
naturally and feel the emotion of their characters. I love the contrast
of RomCom in the background to their lives as it makes you embrace more
their story and root for their relationship. The film's relevance lies
in its portrayal of the challenges faced by parents raising a child with
autism, making it a thought-provoking and impactful watch that leaves
viewers aware and affected.
My Verdict: 3.5/5
