The Philippine Creative industries Development Counci (FCIDC), under the leadership of Acting Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Ma. Christina A. Roque, announces the nationwide, month-long celebration of the Philippine Creative Industries Month (PCIM) this September 2024, as unveiled during a press conference held on 23 August 2024 at The Manila Hotel, Manila.
This year's theme, "#WeAreACreativeNation," underscores the profound connection between creativity and the Filipino identity, celebrating the nation's rich cultural heritage and its inherent drive for innovation and artistic expression. The PCIM 2024 highlights the essential role of creativity and innovation in shaping the Philippines' socio-cultural and economic landscape.
The celebration will showcase the country's diverse creative outputs in music, visual arts, literature, design, fashion, film, and beyond By promoting Philippine creative products and services on the global stage, PCIM 2024 aims to solidify the country's status as a key player in the international creative economy.
The month-long celebration of PCIM every September, as mandated by Philippine Creative Industries Development Act (PCIDA), serves to promote the goods, products, and services of the Philippine creative industries, and to raise awareness of their vital role in nation-building and socioeconomic advancement
Aligned with the goals of PCIDA, PCIM 2024 supports the strategic vision of making the Philippines Asia's premier creative hub by 2030. This ambition emphasizes the creative sector's crucial role in driving national development and economic growth, while also promoting the global profile and market reach of Philippine creative products and services.
Furthermore, the celebration seeks to enhance understanding of the creative industries' significant contribution to national progress.
PCIM 2024 is a collaborative effort that invites creative professionals, industry associations, government agencies, local government units, educational institutions, and corporations to participate in celebrating the Philippine Creative Industries. The DTI encourages everyone to enroll their events in September as co-branded or co-bannered activities under the PCIM celebration, further amplifying the collective creative spirit of the Philippines. Events across all regins will be united under the hashtag #WeAreACreativeNation, showcasing the country's dynamic creativity.
At the PCIM Media Launch, Acting Secretary Ma. Cristina Aldeguer-Roque was joined by DTI Undersecretary Rafaelita M. Aldaba and key figures including Congressman Christopher De Venecia, PCIDA author; Atty. Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, DICT Undersecretary; Atty. Rowel S. Barba, IPOPHL Director General; Dir. Marilyn B. Siao, Department of Education; Dir. Paulo Benito S. Tugbang, Department of Tourism; and Mr. Pablo Gabriel Malvar, Philippine Creative Industries Development Council Private Sector Representative for the Audio Visual Domain.
DTi will officially kick off the PCIM celebration on 3 September 2024 at Ayala Malls TriNoma.
This venue was chosen to bring the celebration closer to the general public and raise awareness about the vital role of creativity in our nation's growth
