Movie Review: Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin

Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin is an epic parody trilogy for both fans and bashers of pinoy movies from action and horror films up to teleserye.

The first episode Bala sa Bala, Kamao sa Kamao and Satsat sa Satsat
is a parody of the action genre. It stars Benjie Paras as the classic vengeful action hero and Candy Pangilinan as the damsel in distress. This episode is directed by Mark Meily.

The second episode Shake, Shaker and Shakest is a spoof of “Shake, Rattle, & Roll” with its yarn of a family who gets lost on the road and is forced to stay in a haunted house in the middle of nowhere. It stars Maricel Soriano and Herbert Bautista, who have both done “Shake” films, under the direction of Andoy Ranay.

The third episode Asawa ni Marie is a teleserye send-up, complete with a dog sidekick named Yagit. The episode stars Cristine Reyes, Jason Gainza, Paolo Ballesteros, and Antoinette Taus, and is directed by Chris Martinez.

Of all the 3 episodes, Asawa ni Marie is the best episode for me. It is a light and goofy comedy which provides laughs, largely due to performances and screenwriting. Chris Martinez directed with just the right amount of parody and storytelling. The first and second episode works because of the hilarious performance by Benjie Paras, Candy Pangilinan, Herbert Bautista and Maricel Soriano. The humor in this movie is based on the concept and works as an effective parody that some of them will make you laugh. Overall, Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin is a decent local parody film that you will enjoy to watch.

My Verdict: 3/5
