Movie Review: T'yanak

T’yanak is the story of Julie’s  adopted baby who transforms into a monster and terrorizes their quiet town of Putting Bato with a series of brutal murders, including the wife of townsman (Sid Lucero) who gets wrongly imprisoned for T’yanak’s crime.  Among T’yanak’s targets are Julie’s brother and his fiancee.  Julie, who has suffered miscarriage after miscarriage in her efforts to have her own child, is unwilling to turn over her adopted baby to the authorities despite the many murders it has committed.

I've been able to watch the premiere night of Tyanak last October 22 2014 at SM Megamall. This is a reboot of the original Tyanak shown in 1988 helmed
with the same directors Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes.Maganda at maayos ang pagkakagawa ng pelikula. Judy Ann Santos gave a stellar performance as a loving mother to a Tyanak. Juday gave a compelling performance which I got carried away especially in her emotional scenes. Juday got a lot of hightlight in this film showcasing her superb acting. My favorite scene of her in the film is the last scene and the scene in theater. You will also feel frightened in this film as this film will give you a lot of unexpected turns of events. Ang daming mga gulat factor ng movie at talagang kakatakutan mo ang tyanak pag napanood mo ito.

Solen Heusaff also gave an effective performance as the girl that convinced that the baby in their house is a Tyanak. This could be one of her best performance as an actress in a film. Child Actor Adrian Cabrido also gave a top notch performance in the film. Ofcouse Sid Lucero as always delivers at nakapgbigay ng nakakadalang performance as I may say one of the brilliant actor that we have. So medyo nadala nga ako doon sa last part ng film dahil this movie got so emotional and you will feel the struggle of Juday as a mother to a monster. So just watch out for that scene. I also like the
themesong of the film. Ang daming aabangan sa pelikulang ito dahil madaming mga pasabog na unexpected turns of events and cameo appearances na bubulaga sa inyo. So I am really recommending this film to be watch on Sineng Pambansa Horror Plus Film Festival. For me this is the best among the 4 entries. Andito na sa pelikulang ito ang lahat ng element for local horror film that a pinoy audience loves. You will be entertained, thrilled and cry on this film. So dont miss this quality local horror flick that would be a perfect film to watch this Halloween.

My Verdict:  4/5
