Movie Review: MMFF 2012 CinePhone Film Festival

It is very great to watch this kind of short film made by young students. It's nice to know that they can create short film at young age. I would like to praise all of the entry for this year Cinephone cause they could be able to put up on this kind of film. I see potentials on most of the entries, that they could be the future or our local movie industry. And after watching all of the short films. Here are my Top 10 list:

10. Promdi

I like their creativeness of making a skit of spoof of a hollywood movie then they relate it on traffic violations. It is very funny yung mga spoof na ginawa nila and it is effective for me. Malinaw din yung film, glossy  yung dating.

9. 2 Minutes

Kakaibang approach yung ginawa sa movie, The actor is the one holding the camera phone and may kasuap siya sa phone and the camera is on ang nakikita ng audience is yung nakaharap sa tenga ng actor. It is just short and simple but I just like the uniqueness and style ng pagkakawa ng film.

8. Sinturong Pangkaligtasan

Catchy Title. Good Screenplay and Cinematography.

7. Crossover

Simple and Short but effective in showing the message of the film.

6. Pasway Ka

Very amateur but what I like the film is the natural acting of the main character in which she is a funny girl ala Melai Cantiveros. Also tells good story about traffic awareness.

5. For the Dance

Very amateur as well but what I like is the story and the last scene which is Prom in footbridge. Tween Romance is in the air.

4. Monthsary

A comedy romance short film. Good screenplay. The texture of the short film is not glossy but still they delivered.

3. Traffic

This short film has a heartwarming story that gave them 3rd spot on my lists.

2. Pedestrilove

A typical love story for youth today. I like the story and the treatment that they did for their short film in which the story was narrated and there is a voice over who tells the story.

1. The Boy The Girl The Traffic Man

You would not expect that this short film was made from a mobile phone. Napakalinis nag pagkakagawa, it is very glossy at napakalalinaw. Aside from that it also has good story.A romantic love story of a boy and a girl that meets in a road and fall in love to each other. I would like to commend the writer because you would really feel the love and romance on this film. It has the same treatment with Pedestrilove, the only difference is the medium of language in which this film used English and Pedistilove used Tagalog.

I would like to congratualate all of the students who joined this Cinephone Film Festival. I hope MMDA would continue on their advocacy for creating short films to achieve their mission and vission. Kudos for the job well done!
