Movie Review: Madilim Ang Gabi

Sara and Lando are trying to leave behind their criminal past. As Phlippine president Rodrigo Duterte intensifies his war on drugs, the couple will be forced to revisit past acquaintances as their wayward teenage son Alan (Felix Roco) goes missing. Pushed to the wall and abandoned by their criminal cohorts, they will have to resort to extreme measures to find their son, even as the threat of bloodshed looms over their heads.

A decent political thriller that talks about the war on drugs and shows the side of the victim of this campaign. Its slow pacing, nuance background sound along with Duterte's voice on radio and awesome performance by Gina Alajar and powerhouse cast serve its purpose to tell a message and eye opener for bloody horrors of Duterte's drug war. It's so amazing to see all of the great actors that we have in one sociopolitical statement film. Madilim ang Gabi is both literally and figuratively meant.

My Verdict: 3.5 /5
