Movie Review: The Day After Valentine's

Kai (JC Santos), a distraught man meets Lani (Bela Padilla), a strong, confident woman who seems to have answers to all of life’s difficulties. Kai realizes that Lani, with her wise and collected attitude, may help him pick himself back together, and soon tags her as his “Ms Repairman.” He later becomes dependent of Lani’s company to the point where he even enlists Lani's aid to accompany him to Hawaii to fix his family issues. In this journey of healing, will true love blossom in between?

Undeniably,  The Day After Valentine's is one of my favorite films for 2018. It is a well made romantic film anchored with the great character study of the two leads. It is not what you think it is that this is just another hugot film, but there is an inner layer of story that made the film connects to the audience through character emotions. The film gives Bela Padilla and JC Santos both character study to shine in. Their rapport is effortless and they are good actor and actress of this generation. The movie rely more on the conversation that makes sense and engaging which also perfectly evoke the core of Kai's and Lani's character. The good cinematography, unique look and modern execution of film achieve to provide a different milleu of a love story. With an intelligent script and wonderfully matched acting that feels natural, the film succeeds in its aims. The Day After Valentine's is beautifully written and a beautiful film about what love should be.

My Verdict:  5/5
