Movie Review: Love You So Bad

Love You So Bad is the ultimate Star Cinema romantic comedy experience, perfect for fans of the genre. The film follows college senior Savannah (Bianca de Vera), a sassy, confident, and unapologetically herself young woman who finds herself caught in a complicated love triangle. On one side is the charming, impulsive bad boy LA (Dustin Yu), who brings out her wild and carefree side; on the other is the principled and ambitious Vic (Will Ashley), who challenges her to grow and reflect on what she truly wants in love and life. As Savannah navigates desire versus direction, the story explores themes of self-discovery, identity, and the timeless joys of young romance.

From start to finish, Love You So Bad delivers all the beats, pacing, and storytelling that keep you smiling. As a self-confessed romcom fangirl, I found myself completely immersed in its world. The film is like an updated version of the classic 90’s Star Cinema film, Dahil Mahal Na Mahal Kita, with all the elements of kilig that fans of both Dustbia and WillCa will love.

Bianca de Vera shines as the new-generation romcom heroine, effortlessly switching between her chemistry with Will and Dustin. With Dustin, she is free-spirited and radiantly happy; with Will, she is prim, proper, and shining, capturing the princess-like essence of classic romance. Will Ashley proves why he is a leading man,  he knows his craft well, bringing maturity to his role, while Dustin Yu charms effortlessly with undeniable charisma. The supporting cast also deserves praise, particularly Xyriel Manabat, whose humor and energy make her a standout scene-stealer.

Love You So Bad is very much a barkada film that Gen Z audiences will like. It’s a nostalgic, feel-good Star Cinema movie experience that brings happy vibes and pure kilig to the big screen—something that has been sorely missed in recent years. If you want to laugh, be emotionally thrilled, and simply enjoy a carefree cinematic romance, this film is exactly what you’re looking for.

My Verdict: 4/5
