MTRCB Rates “Ballerina” and Three Other Films R-16

THE Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has issued an R-16 (Restricted – 16) classification to “Ballerina,” the highly anticipated fifth installment in the John Wick franchise.

Marketed as “From the World of John Wick: Ballerina,” it follows the story of Eve Macarro, a ballerina-turned-assassin, who trains under the deadly traditions of the Ruska Roma and sets out on a mission of revenge for her father’s death.

MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio reminded viewers that “films rated R-16 may contain intense or frightening themes that are not suitable for those aged 15 and below.”

In addition, three other films have also received an R-16 classification:

- “Don’t Sleep,” a Thai supernatural horror-thriller set in modern-day Thailand, where a group of friends accidentally summon dark spirits through a mystical version of a Ouija board;

- “Holy Night: Demon Hunters,” a South Korean action-horror film featuring a trio of demon hunters with supernatural abilities who must defend Seoul from descending into chaos; and,

- “The Crucifix: Blood of the Exorcist,” a chilling horror about a couple haunted by an ancient evil spirit that possesses the wife.

Meanwhile, the animated film “Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye” has been rated PG (Parental Guidance), which means it requires parental supervision and guidance for viewers below 13 years of age.

The Board continues to promote responsible viewing by providing age-appropriate classifications to help Filipino families make informed choices about the content they consume.
