Movie Review: James and Pat and Dave

James and Pat and Dave, a coming of age  love story, is a sequel to the hit romantic comedy movie of 2016, Vince and Kath and James.’

Still helmed by director Theodore Boborol, the film revolves on what it takes and how it feels to become unchosen, which in this case is experienced by Ronnie’s character, James Raymundo, coming from the prequel.

The heart headed guy is exiled by his grandmother as a hostel employer. There, he meets the assistant manager Pat Reyes (Loisa Andalio), who is assigned to train him.

In a game of cat and mouse, Pat who also does online vegetable selling to fully support her brother tries to straighten James up while he tries to get out of doing the hardwork. James finds an opportunity to make Pat recommended a raise for him when she needs him to pretend to be her boyfriend to get rid of her returning ex, Dave Verona, portrayed by Donny Pangilinan.

As the discover the rejected souls behind their banters and bravado, they find themselves fallling in  love for real. Will James be chosen this time?

James and Pat and Dave is just a heart-filled romantic comedy love story that wil make you laugh, kilig, cry and laugh again at the same time. It has relatable characters and a thoroughly charming cast that suit for their roles. Ronnie Alonte that serve as the bridge from the original film improves on her acting this time showing more depth on his character and his chemistry with Loisa is obvioulsy overflowing in which you will feel that James really love Pat. Loisa Andalio on the other heart serves as the heart and center of the film was remarkably good on this film showing her natural funny side and will affect you on her hugot and drama side. Donny Pangilinan that serve as the third wheel is surprisingly good on this film which knows his character well and was consistently in character from start until the end. He register well on the screen and promises to be the the next leading man to watch out. The supporting cast was equally good and hilarious as well from Odette Khan, Bodjie Pascua, Myrtle Sarrosa up to newbie actor JC Salonga and Awra Briguela. Awra really brings fun to the film and make the audience laugh out loud on his comedy antics. Awra knows his strength well and knows how to use it. James and Pat and Dave brings back the romantic comedy genre that local moviegoers miss to see on the big screen with modern story and milleu and refreshing cast that could be the next big thing to watch out on entertainment industry. So if you want to choose love, kilig and good vibes this Valentine's season, watch James and Pat and Dave.
