Movie Review: Above The Clouds

After losing his parents in a flood, 15-year-old Andy is forced to live in the Mountain Province with his estranged grandfather. Feeling they've lost everything, the two embark on a journey and start to come to terms with their grief.

Powerfully moving, reflective, subtle and emotionally resonant with touching performance of Pepe Smith and Ruru Madrid, Above The Clouds brings us to the arch of acceptance that beautifully photographed with amazing landscape along the mountains of Mt. Pulag, Mt. Makiling and Mt. Sto. Tomas. Above The Clouds are tough when it needs to be, but understands that the real weight of Andy (Ruru Madrid) and his grandfather's (Pepe Smith) journey is internal, rather than physical. It makes for an engaging, emotionally resonant piece of film making. Above The Clouds is that rare movie that dares to be something more than just a film, but an experience.

My Verdict:  4.5/5
