VMX is set to raise the stakes in the erotic thriller genre with its latest original offering, Scandal Queen, a provocative film that explores the dangerous world of celebrity blackmail and online manipulation.
Directed by Topel Lee, the film draws inspiration from the digital scandals that continue to dominate social media, offering a timely and gripping look at power, deception, and vulnerability in the age of viral content.
At the center of the story is Mara, played by Karen Lopez, a beautiful and calculating operative working for an underground syndicate that specializes in extorting high-profile male celebrities. As a professional fixer, Mara sees love and desire as mere tools in a dangerous game of power and survival.
Her latest assignment is Alex, portrayed by Nico Locco, a rising young actor whose career is on the brink of superstardom. What begins as a carefully planned seduction soon takes an unexpected turn as Mara becomes emotionally entangled with her target. As Alex willingly risks his career and future for her, the line between manipulation and genuine connection begins to blur.
Adding even more intensity to the film are VMX’s rising stars Rhian Rivera and Dimple Rubio, who bring added intrigue and fiery performances to the gripping thriller.
During the mediacon, Nico Locco admitted that Scandal Queen is inspired by his own real-life experience, making the project deeply personal for him. The actor shared several details about how some of the film’s most intimate and emotionally charged scenes were shot, revealing the careful process behind bringing such a sensitive story to life.
Nico also provided an update on the controversy that inspired the film. According to him, they now know — with the help of the NBI — who the woman behind the deception is and where she currently lives. However, he explained that more victims need to come forward and formally file complaints to strengthen the case.
The actor also opened up about how he is doing now and how he has managed to move forward after the controversy, sharing how the experience has helped him face life with greater resilience and perspective.
With its bold storyline and timely themes, Scandal Queen promises to be a visually compelling and emotionally charged journey into the shadows of the celebrity world.
Streaming exclusively on VMX starting June 5 for only P169 per month, Scandal Queen is another daring addition to the platform’s growing lineup of boundary-pushing original content.
